Northern Kentucky’s Wildest Hotel Builds on Themed-Suite Success The Wildwood in Florence, KY Announces New Additions to Their Line of Theme Suites

Covington, KY… February 20, 2003… Perhaps the most unique and unusual hotel in the entire Midwest is the Wildwood Inn Tropical Dome & Themed Suites in Florence, Kentucky.  In its continued effort to provide a truly unforgettable experience around its large and impressive collection of one-of-a-kind themed suites, the Wildwood announces the addition of two new cave rooms.

The new Artic Cave is a throw off of James Bond’s new movie with caves and ice.  This suite features a new design with halographic fireplaces and dripping ice into a warm spa.  The other new suite is an Arizona Cave with wind blown holes of sand color.  This suite offers a relaxing change with a spa waterfall and a halographic fireplace.

In May the Wildwood will unveil its new Hillbilly Suite.  This suite will feature a 1948 Ford pick-up with a bed built into the flatbed of the truck.  There will also be a front porch complete with a washing machine and a porch swing.

In June of 2000, the Wildwood opened its Race Car Suite to compliment the new racetrack, which opened in June of 2000 in Sparta, Kentucky, about a 25-minute car ride from the Wildwood Inn. “Guests have the opportunity to sleep in what will feel like sleeping in the middle of a race”, says Tom Kelly, owner of the Wildwood Inn.  “The décor includes tables refashioned from actual race tires, and the seats are actual race car seats.”

To compliment the experience, there is also a 6’x 8’ television screen, with surround sound to watch all the racing action, race memorabilia from some of the racing industry’s most well-known heroes, a two person spa, and a refreshment center housed in an actual tool chest.

For those seeking a different theme for their stay at the Wildwood Inn, look to the Cave Suite, sculpted to look like an authentic pre-historic cave.  This suite features its own private waterfall that cascades into the large spa and true-to-life stalagmites and stalactites pointing up and down from the ceiling to the floor.

The Happy Days Suite is a nostalgic room where guests sleep in a bed nestled in a cherry red ’59 Caddy convertible.  The room is made to look like a ‘50’s diner with white, red and black tile, diner stools and booths, a telephone booth closet, and an authentic ’59 Seeburg juke box, loaded with original ‘50’s tunes.
The Nautical Suite is for the sailor in us all.  The walls are bedecked with colorful ocean murals, and guests step on to their dock to board their King-sized bed on a boat.  The room’s refreshment area is a kin to a real ship’s galley.

Other special themed suites include the Safari Suite, where guests enter a jungle fantasyland with animal prints and wild décor; the Contemporary Suite, with mirrored ceilings, special lighting and an over-sized spa sets the mood for an awesome evening.  The Western Suite features a King-sized antique iron bed, a full-size western saloon bar, a poker décor table, and western murals, which set the tone for Texas-sized fun in this suite.

The Champagne Spa Suite is ideal for newly-weds, with a walk-up spiral staircase and a two-story champagne glass shaped spa; and the Cupid Suite features a cherry red leather love seat and a red heart-shaped spa to fan the fires of romance.

Another special highlight of the Wildwood Inn is the Shi-Awela Safari Village, an exotic African setting of 12 private huts, complete with King-sized bamboo beds with mosquito netting, teak table and chair, a two person spa, projection television system with surround sound and CD/tape player, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker.  Each net is decorated with carefully selected African paintings, arts, photos, and animal skins as well as authentic Zulu war shields.  Actual African grasses, trees, shrubs and plants surround the village.

The Wildwood Inn’s popular tropical dome features the heated lagoon pool with its spectacular overhead floral rain basket, tropical hot spa, heated waterfall, dry tropical heat wave sauna, an expansive game room, billiard and ping-pong tables, picnic tables, sundeck, kids pool, and tubular playground.

The Wildwood Inn Tropical Dome & Spa is located at 7809 U.S. 42 in Florence, Kentucky (Exit 180 off Interstate 75). For reservations call (859) 371-6300.
