GOODBYES TO ONLY DIRECTOR NKY CONVENTION CENTER HAS EVER KNOWN

Covington, KY/September 5, 2006—The Northern Kentucky Convention Center is under new leadership for only the second time in its eight-year history.

Gretchen Landrum assumed the Executive Director’s seat August 1st but her predecessor Charles Wheeler remained in a consultative role until Friday August 25th.

Wheeler’s last week at the Center was marked by a few tears and fond remembrances for the man who opened the Center and actually was on the job two years before the facility was completed in 1998.  He received plaudits and proclamations  from local, city and state leaders.

A reception attended by community leaders was held Wednesday, August 23rd in the newly remodeled exhibit hall, which underwent a $400,000 facelift this summer making the use more attractive and flexible for meeting planners.

The mission of the Northern Kentucky Convention and Visitors Bureau is that of an aggressive sales, marketing, service and informational organization whose primary responsibility is to positively impact the Northern Kentucky economy through conventions, meetings and visitor expenditures.  The direct economic impact of visitors’ spending in Campbell, Kenton and Boone Counties in 2005 was $255 million.
