Florence, KY/September 17, 2009—They flew into bad weather—even typhoons—to make sure it was safe for the regular Air Force to patrol the skies over the Pacific right after World War II and during the Korean War.
More than 70 members of PAWS (Pacific Air Weather Squadrons) will meet September 30-October 3 at Hilton Cincinnati Airport hotel. The group comprises the 512th Weather Squadron in Japan, the 514th in Guam and the 513th in Hawaii.
The group flew daily weather reconnaissance missions over the Pacific according to reunion organizer Frank Whitmire and did air sampling for radiation fallout and other special missions.
While here, PAWS members will visit Dayton's Air Force Museum and will take a city bus tour in addition to holding their annual business meeting and banquet.
The mission of the Northern Kentucky Convention and Visitors Bureau is that of an aggressive sales, marketing, service and informational organization whose primary responsibility is to positively impact the Northern Kentucky economy through conventions, meetings and visitor expenditures. The direct economic impact of visitors” spending in Campbell, Kenton and Boone Counties in 2008 was $306 million.
