Association Gets One Day's Free Rental at NKY Convention Center

Covington, KY/April 13, 2010—For the first time since it created its Meeting Guarantee Program 10 years ago, the Northern Kentucky Convention & Visitors Bureau (NKYCVB) has invoked the complete satisfaction Guarantee and granted a check for $3,000—equal to one day's rental of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.

The check was presented to Tammy Martin, 2009 Conference Chair for the Central Association for College and University Business Officers (CACUBO), which conducted its 2009 annual conference in Northern Kentucky October 1-6, attended by approximately 500 people.

"We enacted the Guarantee even though CACUBO didn't request it because we felt there were too many service issues with their conference not to make good on our unconditional pledge of complete satisfaction," says Tom Caradonio, President & CEO of the NKYCVB. "We have hosted over 80 groups who qualified for the Guarantee Program during the 10 years the program has existed, and this is the first time that our hospitality industry's level of service didn't meet our high standards for excellence. We have addressed all of the service issues and believe they have been corrected. We're confident it was an isolated incident," adds Caradonio.

"We appreciate the fact that the CVB took to heart our concerns and that they decided, on their own without any impetus on our part, to invoke their Guarantee Program," says Martin. "Our annual conference has been held at many venues and we have encountered challenges at other places, but this is the first time where we have had such great service from the CVB. I always felt that the people we were working with at the CVB were right on top of any concerns we had and were working hard to offer us solutions. The individualized approach on 'us' was such a welcome and refreshing experience," she adds.

Guarantee Program: Easy to Understand & Invoke

The NKYCVB Guarantee Program was designed to make it easy for groups meeting in Northern Kentucky to understand and invoke it. Any group utilizing the Northern Kentucky Convention Center and consuming 250+ hotel room nights per night for three nights or more qualifies for the program. If a qualifying group is not completely satisfied with any aspect of their service from the NKYCVB convention services department and its Northern Kentucky hospitality industry vendors, they can invoke the Guarantee simply by contacting the Bureau.

"All we ask is that they come to us, explain why they're not satisfied and give us a chance to fix it while they're meeting here," says Caradonio. "If we can't correct the problem, then we will refund one day's rental of our convention center as outlined in the Guarantee Program, no questions asked."
